Here we are again, ready to learn more than yesterday? Today, we are going to remember and learn the vocabulary from the unit SIMPLE MACHINES.
Firstly, we are going to watch an amazing video (click on it) that it is an introduction of different types of simple machines:
Secondly, when we have finished to watched the video, it is time to review the most important vocabulary to understand what it is about simple machines.
What is a pulley?
A pulley is used to make it easier to lift or lower heavy objects.A pulley uses a wheel, and axle, and also a rope. There is a groove on the outside of the wheel and rope runs around it.

2) LEVER
What is a lever?
A lever makes it easier to move an object. It is a rigid bar with a fulcrum. The fulcrum is the point where the lever turns. We need a load, which is an object. We apply a force is called effort.

3) INCLINED PLANE
What is an inclined plane?
An inclined plane is a ramp used to lift and to lower objects. It only have one part and nothing moves to make it work.
4) SCREW
What is a screw?
A screw is an inclined plane wrapped around a pole.
5) WEDGE
What is a wedge?
A wedge is two inclined planes back to back.
Since we have seen different types of simple machines, such as lever, screw, pulley, wedge or inclined plane. Now it is your turn, here it is a worksheet where you can find some instruction of how to create some of simple machines that we have learnt. It is very simple to make it and fun.
